Its been a dark couple of months foe Newport Pagnell. First, Eruption records shuts. The good news out of this is that the promising record shop has relocated to Wolverton, a more populous town, credited with a good history in music, record shops, venues and other shennanigans and is seen as a hugely positive move by all involved. The shop, which managed to sell most of its records the day they were recieved, was previously located opposite the Green Man pub in the backstreets of Newport. The pub itself has also undergone negative changes: Barry the landlord, hung up his keys and left. The pub has remained empty for about 4 weeks now. Previously home to some uncommonly good acoustic sessions and some shocking drum and bass sound systems and a few really excellent nights courtesy of our man Brian, the pub always suffers from the fact that a local councillor lives four doors away, and it's general proximity to residential properties. Recently though, a lively young crew were in there, and the ghost of music hadnt yet left Some or all of this may or may not be down to the credit crunch, but we doubt it. We wish Barry, and all those involved with Eruption Records, a bright future. Theres a darker corner in Newport now.
